Steve Johnson is the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of insured.io, a company focused on improving the customer journey and accelerating digital transformation for insurance organizations.

He is also the Founder of Backpack, a travel insurance brand that aims to disrupt the way US travelers buy their travel insurance.

Before founding insured.io, Steve held software development and underwriting roles across both personal and commercial lines insurance companies. With more than two decades of industry experience and a background in full-stack software development, art, and design, he brings a unique blend of technical and creative expertise.

He is the author of The Insurance UX Survival Guide, the go-to resource for building great digital experiences in the insurance industry.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Sacramento, and is a Pragmatic Certified Product Manager. Outside of work, Steve enjoys all forms of analog media, 1980s horror, hard science fiction, and meticulously tracking every film he's ever watched on Letterboxd.
